Bognor Regis Model Railway Club

About

Bognor Regis Model Railway Club has been meeting in its current form since 1985. Having occupied various premises the club settled into our own clubrooms some years ago. These are situated in the grounds of Aldingbourne Community Sports Centre, Westergate. Currently we are working with the Barnham Signal Box Trust with the intention that we will take possession of the box as additional premises in the near future. As well as staging our own successful exhibition each January the club is frequently invited to exhibit layouts at Model Railway and other events throughout the south of England. Club activities are therefore centred round layout construction and preparation for these events.

brmrcWe have a small but enthusiastic junior section which usually meets on the last Saturday of the month. This is a spin off from our very successful Model Railway building course run over 12 weeks at the start of 2011 with the assistance of funding from Arun district Council.

We have two layouts designed to appeal to young people, Aldingbourne Central in OO gauge that was designed and built specifically to be operated by younger (and the not so young) members of the public at exhibitions. Also Troutbeck Bridge a new OO gauge layout. This layout made its debut at our 2012 annual Exhibition after construction during the last 12 months. The work being a joint enterprise by both our junior and other club members. This layout is intended to show those new to the hobby how they can move on from a train set to their first fully fledged model railway layout. There is still more work to be done but it is almost complete.
